I am a journalist, artist and author.
I explore novel and diverse ways of communicating data.

Stories
As a data journalist, I write and research stories, especially those with a visual component. I work on large data visualisation projects as a journalist, data analyst, researcher, and editor, often with information design agencies. I’ve written articles, reports, and animation scripts, and crafted text for interactive graphics and dashboards. My work has won two Information is Beautiful Awards.
I’m particularly interested in science, climate, arts, and culture topics and my work has been published by numerous media outlets including the BBC and Scientific American.
I’m passionate about using data for social good and I’ve worked with numerous nonprofits including Data4Change, Possible, and Sentient Media.

Art
I create artworks driven by data. I’m the co-founder of the Loud Numbers studio – we transform numbers into bespoke music tracks and sound artworks using data sonification. We also offer mentoring and consultancy on data-driven sound projects – like this one on jumping spiders.
I trained as musician, and love finding new and diverse ways to represent data that blend science and art. I’ve collaborated on pieces that turn numbers into everything from museum installations to choral music, necklaces to engraved 12-inch records.
My artworks have been exhibited in museums and galleries like the National Maritime Museum London, Southbank Centre London, Wellcome Collection London, Bletchley Park, University of Durham, Spektrum Berlin and Wild Mazzini Turin.

Books
I have written an award-winning science book for children, I Am a Book, I Am a Portal to the Universe (Particular, 2020). Co-authored with Stefanie Posavec, I Am a Book won the Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize 2021 and was a Financial Times Book of the Year 2020.
“This is a fabulous science book and offers young people a unique way to learn. The beautiful designs and imagery had me immediately hooked.” – Gabby Logan, BBC broadcaster
“Typography and design combine thrillingly to form something that is eye-opening in every sense.” – Financial Times
I have worked as a researcher on other infographic books including Britannica’s Encylopedia Infographica (Britannica, 2023) and Knowledge is Beautiful by David McCandless (Harper Collins, 2014).
